Pence must be a lot smarter than his perpetual blank expression indicates, or he must be some kind of nut whisperer, to have avoided (to this point) the mercurial ways of Trump. All this time, I've looked forward to the boom being lowered on him and, alas, nothing but disappointment.

It's possible that it might have filtered through to Trump that he can't fire Pence.

I hear ya MSheridan. Add to this the limited knowledge of what is actually being investigated or why it's a bad thing and we end up in that place where I lament the stupidity of the masses. I feel like I'm on solid ground when I say it's a fact that most people think they know or even just act like they know what a quid pro quo is, or what pay-to-play entails in politics when they don't really have the slightest clue what's going on. And that's not just for those two terms, but rather for a lot of the process currently unfolding.

Johnson, who visited Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky with Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) in early September to discuss the delayed military aid, argued that he and other senators could’ve handled the situation on their own [3], and in any case, Ukraine ended up receiving the aid. [4]
[3] Name something else you handled properly "on your own."

They saved the United States from letting one of Obama's nominees become the median justice on the Supreme Court. Senate Republicans did that all by themselves with no help from anyone except perhaps The Liberal New York Times.
