Topics I've Started

Dear Commentator...

14 February 2017 - 03:52 PM

(I'm putting this here because I can't think of anywhere else to do it; this is just some observations that need to be collected, someplace. Fellow TRS-ers, please add your own; I suspect we've seen a lot of this in various columns, commentaries, & FB feeds.)

...this applies whether you have a national following of tens of thousands via syndication from a major daily newspaper, or a parochial following of a couple of hundred via your personal blog/Facebook page/Twitter account.

I have found it nothing short of amazing what a change in tone has occurred since the change in occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. I swear, it has become "Opposites Day", to the point where it has become hypocritical. Let me illustrate:

If you spouted "birtherism" in 2009, you don't get to decry stories that don't expressly validate your worldview as "Fake News" in 2017.

If your mantra January 21, 2009 was "Make Obama a One-term President," you don't get to plead "Give Trump a chance" in January 2017.

OK, 2016 Can End Already!

Enough already...

Larry, Moe, Curly, and Shemp, AKA What's Left of the GOP Field

09 March 2016 - 04:59 PM

Now that the GOP Presidential field has been narrowed down considerably, it seems to be a good time to have a thread likewise narrowed down.

As I commented in the original "All Things..." thread, I thought it striking that one of the 2 main papers in the South Florida metro went "None of the Above" when it come to an endorsement on the GOP side. The Miami Herald, not surprisingly, endorsed Rubio. The paper in my present city of residence has yet to endorse a Presidential candidate for either side's primary. Flori-DUH's primary is less than a week away.

In upcoming primary states, what are the major papers saying, if anything? Like the Sun-Sentinel, are they pretty much saying, "To hell with all of them"? Or is there a sense of holding the nose while making the endorsement?
