Explosive Devices Found in Mail Sent to Hillary Clinton and Obama

Explosive Device Is Found in Mailbox at Soros’s Home in N.Y. Suburb

This is getting pretty wild. The Secret Service intercepted packages addressed to both Hillary Clinton and the Barack Obama.

Quote

According to an NBC report, the package meant for Clinton was found around 1 a.m. near a home in Chappaqua, New York that she and Bill Clinton own.

The potential explosive meant for Obama was addressed to the former President’s residence in Washington, D.C.

Per the Secret Service, “the protectees did not receive the packages nor were they at risk of receiving them,” they said, referring to Clinton and Obama.

A U.S. official told the AP that the device sent to the Clintons’ home was a “functional explosive device.”

CNN was also targeted.

Quote

CNN’s offices in New York City were evacuated and the NYPD is investigating a suspicious package at the Time Warner Center, the network reported shortly after a fire alarm was heard on air during a broadcast.

The Secret Service intercepted potential explosive devices reportedly addressed to former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and former President Barack Obama on Wednesday. On Tuesday, a bomb was found in the mailbox of a home owned by liberal philanthropist and donor George Soros.

NBC News’ Tom Winters reported on air that the devices sent to Soros, Obama and Clinton all carried the same return address, of “a prominent former Democratic Party official,” and were all in manila-colored packages.

Winters said the device sent to CNN “is very similar, if not exactly similar, to what was found in the other three packages.”

Let's take a moment to remember the right-wing whining and victimhood over political figures being confronted in restaurants. Now let's take a trip back through time with Rachael Maddow who tells them to stop being such little bitches.

Quote

Republican snowflakes have been crying over Americans holding them accountable for their policies and positions on issues. When sexual assault survivors showed up at the U.S. Capitol to demand their elected officials listen to them, Republicans called it a violent mob. The reality is something Rachel Maddow reminded viewers of Tuesday.

While the focus of her story was about the Republican need to overturn Obamacare, despite campaigning on it now, the host brought back the 2010 election.

The rise of the tea party brought violence to Democratic members that went far beyond yelling at someone in an elevator or politely asking them to leave a restaurant.

Before Rep. Gabby Giffords (D-AZ) was shot in the head by a conspiracy theorist, someone used a pellet gun to blow out the glass to her Arizona office. Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-NY) had a brick thrown through her office window. Rep. Tom Perriello (D-VA)’s brother had his propane tank line severed after a conservative activist website posted the Congressman was staying there at the time.

Then there were the protests outside of the Capitol. Republicans whined about being yelled at by their constituents. When Democratic members of the Congressional Black Caucus walked out of the U.S. Capitol, tea party members spit on them.

As Republicans reduce the number of town hall meetings they do for constituents, their voters have become desperate in efforts to reach their elected representative. Some have argued that desperate citizens are approaching officials in public simply because they don’t have any recourse other than sending an email that gets a “form letter” response.

You reap what you sow ... motherf***ers.

More Democrats are receiving suspicious packages including Andrew Cuomo, Maxine Waters, Kamala Harris, and Debbie Wasserman Schultz.

My fear is that it actually *could* be some left wing activist group that thinks it will help the Dems, to show proof of Dumpster's violent rhetoric. That's just what we don't need.

Of course, until the crimes are solved, that will be the RW talking point conspiracy theory anyway.

If it is a left-winger, the GOP will hold them up as indicative of the entire DNC. If it's a right winger, he's just a disturbed nut, and they send Thoughts and Prayers that no one innocent (like a white GOP male) gets hurt.

Trump whines for civility. CNN President Jeff Zucker calls him out and tells it like it really is.

The White House reaction? Suckabee again proves herself worthy of burning in Hell. There is no depth of lying that she won't stoop to. What a piece of trash.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders called out CNN President Jeff Zucker for his statement calling on Sanders and the White House to stop attacking the media.

“You chose to attack and divide,” she said in a tweet Wednesday evening.

Ditto Lou Dobbs.

Fox Business Network host Lou Dobbs seemed to suggest on Twitter Thursday that the attempted bomb attacks on prominent Democrats and CNN were a hoax. He later deleted the tweet.

Josh Marshall makes it clear that these terrorism targets coincide EXACTLY to Trump's targets. And yes, much of where our nation is going is Trump's fault as well as the fault of the Republicans who are following him as a route to political power. In full:

Quote

We’re now getting an overall view of the range of targets who were sent explosive devices. We also have a list of false alarms. (John Light has a quick rundown here.) The gist is the Clintons, Obamas, George Soros, Eric Holder, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, Maxine Waters and John Brennan. Brennan’s was actually the name on the device sent to CNN’s offices in New York. The common denominator here is pretty clear. These are not only Democrats or people generally on the left. In Brennan’s case he’s not really clearly either. These are all high profile targets of President Trump and relatedly nemeses of your standard Trumpite media outlets like Breitbart and The Daily Caller.

We shouldn’t forget that there have been violent incidents fueled by hostility to Republicans or President Trump. The horrific shooting last year which grievously wounded Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) is the clearest example. Society contains a certain percentage of unbalanced people. A charged and angry political environment will push a thin slice of that population over the edge. But we also shouldn’t pretend that this is an issue with tribalism or polarization or extremism in general.

One side has a President repeatedly ramping up racist incitement, attacking the press as the “enemy of the people.” One side has a President who routinely leads cheers about imprisoning political opponents. His congressional supporters accept his rhetoric and now increasingly ape it. One side has a President who routinely fabricates outlandish falsehoods intended to generate outrage, fear and hate. One side has a group of rightist paramilitaries operating in various parts of the country. One side has mass ownership of high capacity firearms as a central part of its political ideology. The same side frequently focuses on private weapons ownership as a hedge against “tyranny”. In other words, they focus on the need to stock firearms for the potential need to use them against government officials and civil servants.

Adam Smith famously said there’s a lot of ruin in a nation. Violence is not actually rare but endemic in American life. But what we are seeing today has little precedent in our history. We don’t just have civil division and a rise of political violence. We have the ring leader and chief inciter holding the executive power of the state. The calls are coming from inside the house. It is not surprising that it has an effect, effects like we see today.

The scope and depth of damage that President Trump is doing to the country every day is hard to calculate.

Rod Dreher makes an attempt at saying all political violence is wrong and does a two-step to avoid going full metal apologist. As expected he can't keep his balance and at the end we find out that Trump is apparently the fault of the most left-wing elements on college campuses. Man, this guy is SO f***ed up.

Quote

Donald Trump is not Adolf Hitler, or even close. I can’t think of a left-wing US leader who is either, nor can I think of a left-wing leader who is even as effective at mobilizing these sentiments as Donald Trump. But we Americans — all of us, left and right — are getting ourselves used to thinking in the kinds of categories, and unleashing the passions, that a truly gifted demagogue will be able to marshal with ferocious effectiveness.

Trump is not the problem. The problem is who comes after Trump. Trump, and Trumpism, didn’t come from nowhere. On this blog, I point out over and over how left-wing transgression of norms, on campus and elsewhere, feeds Trumpism. Jordan Perkins explains how it works. It is also true that Trumpist transgressions feed the left. That leaves us with Perkins’s conclusion:

Quote

But make no mistake: it has been YEARS worth of violations of socio-political norms, beginning with the norm of basic civility, that put us on this path, and there’s no non-violent way out which doesn’t involve reinstating those norms.

To turn back means to refuse the narcotic pleasures of hating the Other, and losing oneself in a mob of others who hate the Other too. Not sure how we do this in a fundamentally emotivist culture… .

Oh, yeah. And a bonus for quoting Newt Gingrich without acknowledging the ramp-up in norm destruction he gleefully lead. Nope, we're all to blame.

Quote

In his talk, Gingrich said that the polarization is “everyone’s fault,” which, okay, but the term “enemy of the people” is utterly unworthy of an American, especially a conservative American who is old enough to remember the Cold War, and what communism was, and is. And to use that phrase a day after someone sent a pipe bomb to CNN! What is wrong with him?

Here's how Lou Dobbs and other right-wing liars made up their preferred narrative and had it spread across the right-wingnuts like wildfire. Congratulations to all of them. They have truly created their own world filled to the brim with alternative facts. But when the non-wealthy find the nation is bankrupt, they can't see a doctor, and their Social Security and Medicare are being cut they'll get a taste of the real world they created with their fake one.

Quote

Fox Business Network host and Trump confidant Lou Dobbs became the highest-profile Trump supporter to embrace the slogan on Thursday morning.

“Fake News--Fake Bombs,” Dobbs tweeted. “Who could possibly benefit from such fakery?”

Dobbs later deleted his tweet, which he replaced with one claiming that the bomb story was an example of “fake news” used to “change the narrative” away from the migrant caravan currently traveling through Central America.

Then Dobbs deleted that tweet as well.

In the aftermath of the bomb attempts against CNN and top Democrats—including Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and billionaire Democratic donor George Soros—conservative media figures and anonymous Trump supporters on social media have scrambled to prove the bombs were a hoax effort to tilt the midterms towards the Democrats.

Prior to Dobbs’ Thursday morning tweet, Fox previously gave credence to such a conspiracy when, on daytime gabfest Outnumbered, guest Chris Swecker suggested the bombs could have been mailed by “someone who is trying to get the Democratic vote out and incur sympathy.”

Trump allies and supporters have scrutinized everything from the amount of postage on the packages to the bomb’s construction in an effort to prove that no one was actually at risk of being blown up.

Now “Fake news, fake bombs” has become the slogan for that reflexive skepticism.

There is nothing so offensive as folk from the right side of the political spectrum complaining about people demonizing the "other" when their ideology is entirely consumed with status quo worship and conformity.
