As you all know, I don't post much to this thread because I want to stay sane. But I'll say this: give BloJo his due, he really did Get Brexit Done. With a deal, at that! Yes, we lost, and I'm still trying to get over it.

Now the unintended consequences will appear, one by one, slowly and interminably. And I'm rehearsing in front of a mirror, saying over and over again: "You won. Get over it".

What's the reaction to BloJo's father's decision to leave Britain, presumably over Brexit, and attain French citizenship?
And there was much rejoicing. Yay.

How can I be expected to distinguish BS from reality when so much of my reality is utter BS?!

Apparently nobody has said anything. Possibly because there are half a dozen utterly monstrous people in the Cabinet who make Papa Stanley look only mildly reprehensible.

Hey, Boris. How's that Brexit thang workin' out? (And Amsterdam says "Thanks!")

Quote

All the talk was of Frankfurt or Paris luring London's financial business as Britain peeled away from the EU. Yet it is Amsterdam that is proving the most visible early winner.

Data last week showed the Dutch capital had displaced London as Europe's biggest share trading centre in January, grabbing a fifth of the 40 billion euros-a-day action, up from below a tenth of trading pre-Brexit.

Yet that is just one of several areas the city has quietly stolen a march on its rivals as it attracts businesses from Britain, evoking memories of its history as a global trading powerhouse in the 17th century.

Amsterdam has also overtaken London to become Europe's number one corporate listing venue so far this year, data shows, and the leader in euro-denominated interest-rate swaps, a market estimated to be worth about $135 trillion in 2020.

"There is a whole culture of trading, and to be close to that was very positive," said Robert Barnes, CEO of London Stock Exchange-owned share trading platform Turquoise, which has selected the Dutch capital over Paris for its post-Brexit hub.

"You have some of the big institutional banks, you have specialist trading firms, a dynamic retail community. But it's also in the heart of continental Europe."

Aleph-null megaLikes. You'll pardon me for saying no more; I feel the same about Brexit as Charles (cmk) felt about the election of a certain pussy grabber. I want to wrench my own gonads off and swallow them.

Did the chappie in the book do that? I never read it, and even if he did do it it wouldn't make me buy the book or get the DVD.

Anyway, I guess in the book he'd get his girlfriend to do it.

Not a clue. I didn't read it either though, on a "recommendation", I watched about 5 minutes of the movie. I was told to give it at least a few minutes just because the acting was so bad. The person who told me that did not lie.

Well, it did end David Cameron's political career. And Theresa May's. So there's that.
