I wonder if somebody is keeping a scoreboard of outed anti-gay Republicans. Aaron Schock may be next on the list.

Quote

Earlier this year, the New York Times published a story about the public outing of an anti-gay Republican without ever mentioning in print that it was Representative Aaron Schock of Illinois. Today, the Paper of Record is back with a hilariously coy follow-up, "Aaron Schock and His Popular Instagram Persona," about what a "stud" he is and how much men on the internet happen to love him. (Previous Times coverage of Schock includes “Shirtless Schock on Cover of Men’s Health” and “A Congressman’s Abs Garner Yeas.”) The joke is largely between the lines.

Sessions

The level of narcissism astounds me. Does this guy have no common sense or ability to learn from others' mistakes?

I've said this (plagiarized) joke before:

There must be one heck of a large closet in the GOP's Big Tent.

Learning from others' mistakes:

Rep Anthony Weiner (not gay, just stupid)

Sen Larry "Wide Stance" Craig (So far in denial he's brobably flagellating** himself into oblivion)
** Not "dirty". Look it up

Point to ponder:

How many of those closeted, gay, elected representatives in the GOP are being coerced into voting a "certain way" under the threat of being outed ?
Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.

If you've got public schools paid for by taxpayers, you're in a socialist nation. If you have public roads paid for by taxpayers, socialist nation. If you've got public defense (police, fire, military, coast guard) paid for by tax dollars, socialist nation. If you're in a nation that has nationalized or localized delivery of services that are not paid for by users alone, you're in a socialist nation- the only question is how socialist. As I see it, we pay the military pay to protect the shipping lanes for our fuel needs which makes us very socialist. In a capitalist nation, the people supplying the oil would pay for their own defense force.

I doubt very many. I think being stridently anti-gay is simply cover for a "lifestyle" that they can't bring themselves to accept. It's rather sad in this day and age. I understand Larry Craig being driven into the closet by well founded lifelong fear of the redneck reaction that could destroy his life, but this guy obviously grew up in a later age. Hopefully in another generation or two this won't even be a topic of discussion.

Turns out Rep. Schock had his office redone but did not want it reported on.

Quote

On Monday, Schock's staff reportedly tried to quash a Washington Post story on the office makeover. The bright red walls enticed Post reporter Ben Terris into the congressman's outer office, and he was even more intrigued when a woman at the front desk told him the decor was inspired by the British period drama "Downton Abbey."

But Schock's staff made it clear to Terris that they weren't happy he snapped photos of the space during his brief tour with the congressman's interior designer. Terris went ahead and released the images anyway.

Schock now claims it had nothing to do with Downtown Abbey, but rather it's just his style. He then brushed off the comments he's been getting hit with lately by quoting that great philosopher Taylor Swift. (No, seriously, he quoted Taylor Swift!)

Quote

“Well, I've never been an old crusty white guy. I’m different. I came to Congress at 27," Schock told Zeleny. "When I go take a personal vacation I don’t sit on the beach, I go do active things. And so, I’m also not going to live in a cave. So when I post an Instagram photo with me and my friends, you know --as Taylor Swift said, ‘haters are gonna hate.’”

And why shouldn't he say it loud that he is proud? His office looks FAAAABUUULOUS!

And once again in the You Can't Make This Shit Up Department, Schlock's communications director compared two black people to zoo animals on the Rep's Facebook page.

Quote

The spokesman for rising Republican star Rep. Aaron Schock (R-IL) allegedly compared two black people to zoo animals in one of several racially charged Facebook posts, ThinkProgress reported Thursday.

Schock's communications director Benjamin Cole posted a series of videos to his Facebook page in October 2013 that mocked black people walking outside his Washington, D.C. apartment, according to screenshots of the posts obtained by ThinkProgress.

The news website reported that one post, which included a video of a woman who appeared to be arguing with someone off-screen, read "so apparently the closing of the National Zoo has forced the animals to conduct their mating rituals on my street. #gentrifytoday Pt. 1."

The race of the woman is unclear in the screenshot.

To be fair, they may not have been acting like zoo animals but they were acting like barbarians. And to quote a truly manly straight man, Marcus Bachmann, there's only one way to handle barbarians.

Cheezes! I guess people are looking more and more at this once obscure Representative and finding more shit under the rug. He may now be facing an ethics investigation over selling his him to an influential donor in his district for significantly more than its assessed value.

Quote

A watchdog group has filed a complaint against Illinois Republican Rep. Aaron Schock over his home sale to a campaign donor.

According to the liberal website Blue Nation Review, Schock sold his home to an executive at Caterpillar, Inc., in 2012 for more than three times its assessed value. Caterpillar is headquartered in Schock's district and the executive had donated to Schock, the website said.

I guess those snappy clothes don't come cheap.

I wish these articles were more specific. The sales price of Schock's home wasn't 3 times the amount of it's "assessed value" but 3 times that of comparable sales in his neighborhood. Schock and Co are busy trying to confuse the issue based on a tax term that is very often mush lower than sales prices. He's a scum, gay or straight.

Seriously. Home sales are public record, easy for anybody to get their hands on.

Selling his "him": yes, just a typo that was immediately corrected in a following comment, but to my mind sounding a bit gay - and so, inadvertently appropriate. But then I have a dirty mind.
