You made that, didn't you?
And you centered it on your house, didn't you?

;)
Well, fuck.

How can I be expected to distinguish BS from reality when so much of my reality is utter BS?!

More like MD/PA line north of Hagerstown. LFC and I are merely on the 12 bottle band. But I did get two cases this weekend. State store was having a sale.

Alternate explanation:

You and LFC were already a few bottles into the 24 and simply misplaced the center.

I'm sticking with that unless proof is provided.

Especially in light of your admission to picking up two cases. (And, of course, the fact that the actual worst hit area isn't where the recommendation is centered.)

How's the snow there? It doesn't appear from the reports this morning that it was so bad after all.

Don, its been far too long since LFC and I got together, unfortunately. But that was mighty funny.

Went to bed at 2200 thinking "snowmageddon"; got zilch !!! Literally: there's NOTHING new on the ground.

Forecast changed from original 7 to 14 inches to 1 to 3 inches. Right now, nothing is coming down.

School kids ticked off school was NOT cancelled. (WIfe is a school nurse)

I'm ticked off because I took the night off thinking lots of PITA in the AM getting home from work.

If you've got public schools paid for by taxpayers, you're in a socialist nation. If you have public roads paid for by taxpayers, socialist nation. If you've got public defense (police, fire, military, coast guard) paid for by tax dollars, socialist nation. If you're in a nation that has nationalized or localized delivery of services that are not paid for by users alone, you're in a socialist nation- the only question is how socialist. As I see it, we pay the military pay to protect the shipping lanes for our fuel needs which makes us very socialist. In a capitalist nation, the people supplying the oil would pay for their own defense force.

Have about four inches and still coming down and expected to last through the day.

The forecast was mainly correct - the whole thing shifted 75 miles to the east. They always knew there would be a sharp gradient from mega-snow to no-snow, and that gradient was in eastern New York. A small shift - big effect.

Won't stop all the morning-after quarterbacking though, and all the ridiculous pronouncements from the DeBlasio-haters and the climate change deniers.

It is a pretty steep drop off from "perfect" to "incompetent" for some, isn't it?

When one is looking to fit a narrative, yes.

It's like the anti-vacc thing - already seeing that it's "proved" that vaccines are bad, because some who were infected from the Disney outbreak were vaccinated. Over 95% efficacy? That leaves up to 5% --> EPIC FAIL.

I'm sure some of these people could struggle for quite a while without coming up with an understandable description of what 5% means.

Yeah, but you gotta get your ass over here and start drinking it. Quit leading those tours and get with some serious drinking for once.

We were forecast for 20+ inches, turned out to be around 6.

Bad part was they cancelled work yesterday thinking it would be terrible. Now, the next time, they'll expect everyone to come in through any amount.

“One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we've been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We’re no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It's simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we’ve been taken. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back.”

— Carl Sagan

Pray for Trump: Psalm 109:8

"Science is more than a body of knowledge; it is a way of thinking. I have a foreboding of an America in my children's or grandchildren's time - when the United States is a service and information economy; when nearly all the key manufacturing industries have slipped away to other countries; when awesome technological powers arc in the hands of a very few, and no one representing the public interest can even grasp the issues; when the people have lost the ability to set their own agendas or knowledgeably question those in authority; when, clutching our crystals and nervously consulting our horoscopes, our critical faculties in decline, unable to distinguish between what feels good and what's true, we slide, almost without noticing, back into superstition and darkness.

— Carl Sagan
The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark
1995

“As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.”

— H.L. Mencken
On Politics: A Carnival of Buncombe

“The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little.”

— Franklin Delano Roosevelt
Second inaugural address January, 1937
