Now, now, George! Behave yourself. The rights are human rights, not rights reserved for nice people only. Recall that Republicans are great believers in human rights, many of them laid out in the US Constitution. The snag is that they mentally add, perhaps not even knowing they're doing it, "except for black people, women, gays, Muslims, and most people who can't afford a lawyer". Poverty is a reliable sign of a lack of moral fibre.

Of course, I've just solved one problem, and raised at least four more, equally difficult.

As a mathematician you will be familiar with the theory associated with Hawks, doves and bullies. It applies to most of the animal kingdom and can even be used to analyse long established groups that have reached a state of stable equilibrium, such as a large board of directors. There will be a prescribed number of hawks, doves and bullies.

Trump will be in that mathematical mix somewhere. I think Trump belongs to a sub class of parasitical bullies which provide no sum benefit to their host, mankind.

As one TRS member put it, Trump should have his genes erased from the human race. That is my view too, but because it is a view, it should be taken by a majority of people. Trump himself, an elitist, would not bother to make sure his views were in the majority before he made such a purge.

Spot Trump below.

In time the doctor knows less and less about more and more and the specialist knows more and more about less and less until ultimately the doctor knows nothing about everything and the specialist knows everything about nothing.

George, that's just cuckoo.
The way a lot of catastrophes happen is that X doesn't occur because there are safeguards in place, therefore people assume X isn't a worry and they remove the safeguards. Then X happens.

Yeah, but "that's just cowbird" doesn't work nearly so well.

Four out of five cowbirds disagree. They're tired of being treated like Tier 2 brood parasites.

Your Friday shaggy dog story:

Quote

Humans are amazing in what they will come up with.

For background, there is a subset of porn that involves collecting semen and ingesting it. Sometimes it gets cooked, sometimes just consumed raw, but it is definitely a thing. One enterprising actor was frequently complimented on the taste of his 'product', which he attributed to good genes, The actor was looking to leave the business. In the process of discovering what might suit him, he chanced upon a clique of winemakers that his brother knew. Winemakers, like most groups, vary in their strict attention to detail. Some value this level of exactitude highly and are vocal about it. Guess which group the actor fell in with ? He made a deal with his brother and a partnership was born. They cast about for a way to differentiate the proposed wine and came up with two critical branding ideas. The label of the winery would feature the German word Genau (meaning exactly or precisely) denoting his finickiness in maintaining the quality of the wine. The second idea was to personally flavor the wine. When the brand was finally ready to launch, the announcement headline said, simply "Genau is the vintner of our dicks' content".

Pray for Trump: Psalm 109:8

"Science is more than a body of knowledge; it is a way of thinking. I have a foreboding of an America in my children's or grandchildren's time - when the United States is a service and information economy; when nearly all the key manufacturing industries have slipped away to other countries; when awesome technological powers arc in the hands of a very few, and no one representing the public interest can even grasp the issues; when the people have lost the ability to set their own agendas or knowledgeably question those in authority; when, clutching our crystals and nervously consulting our horoscopes, our critical faculties in decline, unable to distinguish between what feels good and what's true, we slide, almost without noticing, back into superstition and darkness.

— Carl Sagan
The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark
1995

“As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.”

— H.L. Mencken
On Politics: A Carnival of Buncombe

“The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little.”

— Franklin Delano Roosevelt
Second inaugural address January, 1937
